Georgia Quail

Quail Hunting in Georgia

There was a time when the call of the bobwhite echoed across the South—now, it’s a rare sound.

Our partners have carved out a place where that sound still lives. Where the land is worked with care, not for show, but for the return of something we love. This ground has been privately held by the same family for the last 108 years.

These quail hunts aren’t built for crowds. They’re private, personal affairs—quiet mornings, sharp dogs, and experienced guides who know when to speak and when to stay silent.

The Georgia season runs from October through March, but the memories tend to linger far longer.

The Hunt

This hunt is crafted in the same spirit and tradition that the owner experienced while hunting alongside his grandfather. Every quail course has its own distinct personality. Some fields open into stands of long-leaf pines with varying density, while others roll gently into hardwood bottoms or stretch across classic South Georgia upland terrain lined with broad loblolly pines. Pines, open fields, gentle hills, shaded pockets—each landscape brings its own charm. Across three hunts, no hunter will experience the same ground or habitat twice, ensuring every outing feels fresh and memorable.

The guides are just as unique as the terrain. Each one brings authentic Southern hospitality paired with a level of field expertise that’s hard to come by. They know the land, they know the birds, and they know how to create an experience that feels both relaxed and elite. A highlight for many guests is the incredible team of dogs—primarily German Shorthaired Pointers, supported by talented flush dogs including energetic Cocker Spaniels and reliable Labradors. There’s nothing quite like watching a well-trained bird dog work: the intensity of the point, the sweep of the tail, the burst of action when the covey rises.

Every hunt is tailored to the shooter’s ability. Whether you're a seasoned wingshooter or heading out for the first time, the guides adjust the pace and setups to give you a true opportunity to succeed. With strong coveys, close-working dogs, and approachable walks from the jeep, each hunter has every chance to reach their limit on both morning and afternoon hunts—though, as always, your accuracy will tell the final story.

South Dakota Pheasant

Pheasants in South Dakota

Hunting both non-preserve wild birds and birds on preserve land offers the best of both worlds for hunters looking for a unique and challenging experience. You are offered the chance to hunt not only on preserved land but also be able to hunt wild birds on unmanaged land.

Hunting wild birds in their natural habitats provides a sense of adventure and the thrill of the hunt, as hunters must understand the behavior and habitat of the species they are pursuing. On the other hand, hunting birds on preserve lands offers a more controlled environment, with well-stocked populations and the convenience of a managed habitat and more consistent hunts.

Combining these two types of hunting allows hunters to experience the excitement of pursuing wild game in the great outdoors and the controlled environment of preserve lands. This offers a variety of hunting opportunities, making for a well-rounded hunting experience.
