FLOOD PLAIN BULLS

Hunting Banteng & Water Buffalo on the West Arnhamland Floodplain

Northern Territory, Australia

Remote, wild and forgotten, this area of Australia holds the incredible concentration of Banteng and Water Buffalo on the continent.

Hundreds of miles from end to end, and nearly 10 miles across at points, the Flood Plains of West Arnhamland are home to herds of banteng reminiscent of the plains of Africa. Most evenings during my last hunt we would watch herds of both banteng and water buffalo number in the thousands. What appeared to be multiple brush fires in the distance, visible from miles away, were actually clouds of dust churned up by the massive herds as they head out to the floodplain in the late afternoon every day.

THE HUNTING

Your days will be spent glassing to locate big mature bulls, once your target is found you will head out on foot to get within range to make the kill. There were days where we saw well over a hundred bulls, which offers the opportunity to take your time and find some truly massive trophy animals.

Both banteng and water buffalo are found here in incredible numbers, so success rates are exceptional on truly impressive trophy bulls of both species.
